Minecraft Different Gamemodes and different difficuilty levels

In Minecraft, the players are facilitated with a wide arsenal of world options in which they can play the game. Minecraft at its first glance may look childish but in its core, it gives the thrill, excitement; lets the player live up to their imagination and much more.

These are the basic vanilla game modes the game has to offer:

Survival: In this game mode the player or players will need to survive in the wilderness with gathering resources, breeding animals and similar things. The player has unlimited respawns. If the player dies he/she will respawn by default at the world centre near the X:0 and Y:0 coordinate or they can change their respawn point by sleeping in the bed or using a respawn anchor.

Creative: This game mode gives the player/players access to unlimited resources and the ability to fly. This helps the player to create stuff according to their imagination without fearing to grind resources for countless hours for the same. Many players love using the creative world more as they tend to make gigantic builds and Redstone contraptions which would literally take decades to build in the survival world.

Hardcore: This game mode is exclusive to the Java version of the game. Similarly to the survival mode, the player is dropped into the world in which the player should fend, survive and grind for resources towards glory. The twist to this game mode is that the player has only one life and cannot respawn, and the world difficulty is locked on hard. The player is also shown with a different type of health bar with the hear being a different texture.

If the player dies the player is shown the score and two options:-

  • Spectate- The player can see the world in spectate mode for the last time and may or may not remorse on his lost progress.
  • Title Screen- This option brings the player to the main menu.
The vanilla has two other game modes which are not available during the start of any world during world creation but can be accessed with the help of commands or other options:-
  • Adventure mode has limited features to preserve adventure maps from being changed. In this mode, you will not be able to fly. Also, blocks can not be destroyed by hand, but rather you must use an item with the CanDestroy tag to destroy a block. Blocks can only be placed in the block has the CanPlaceOn tag.
When you play in this mode, you will have a health bar, a hunger bar and an experience bar. You will be able to kill mobs and hostile mobs will attack you. You will take damage and can die in the game.
Although you can not start a Minecraft world in Adventure mode (you will have to choose Creative or Survival when you create the world), you can switch to Adventure mode from another game mode using the /gamemode command.
  • Spectator mode is only available in Minecraft Java Edition. It was first introduced in Minecraft 1.8 to allow players to fly around and observe the Minecraft world. Players in this mode can not interact with anything in the game but can fly through solid objects.
When you play in this mode, you will not have a health bar, a hunger bar or an experience bar. You will not be able to kill mobs, take damage or die in the game.
Although you can not start a Minecraft world in Spectator mode (you will have to choose Creative or Survival when you create the world), you can switch to Spectator mode using the /gamemode command
Spectator is a great mode to use if you have mined underground and have gotten lost or run out of resources. Just switch to Spectator mode and fly up! You can easily find blue skies and the ground. Then switch back to Creative or Survival mode again.
The game gives the player with 4 vanilla game difficulty which can be changed within the game with the exception of hardcore mode. If the player wants to play more ethically then he/she can lock the game difficulty so they cannot change the difficulty.-
  1. Peaceful- In this game difficulty no hostile i.e aggressive mobs (creatures) spawn in the world. If the player is in creative mode and tries to get a hostile creature with a spawn egg then the mob will immediately despawn after the spawn. It is not possible to spawn any hostile creature in peaceful mode. You will take damage from the physical world such as lava, drowning, or falling from heights. If you are damaged, your health bar will slowly replenish over time. Your food bar will not deplete and you will not get hungry. This will prevent you from being able to eat food. The only food you will be able to eat is the golden apple. The one hostile creature you are able to get in the peaceful mode is the ender dragon.

  2. Easy- While playing in this game difficulty the player will be facing hostile mobs. The mobs will deal with lesser damage than mobs in normal difficulty. Also, the player does not get any negative status effects, for example-the cave spider won't poison you or the wither boss give you withering effect. Unlike peaceful mode, the players' hunger meter will deplete over time or while taking damage. When at zero health the health will start depleting until they reach at 5 hearts of health. Thus hunger won't kill you in easy mode.

  3. Normal- This is the standard mode of Minecraft, all this deals the player with standard damage and the player is prone to harmful status effects from mobs and other stuff. In this mode too the players' health is depleted through hunger. When the player hunger is zero the health will go down to half a heart, thus in normal mode too the player does not die out of hunger.

  4. Hard- This is the most difficult difficulty of the game. The mob does the most damage out of all other modes. Mobs can cause harmful status effects. Mobs like zombie, skeleton, husk and zombie villager have a chance to spawn with gear which may or may not be enchanted. The gear may include armour of any type (except Netherite) or different tools which are available of any material (except Netherite). The rate of mob spawns is higher. If the player's hunger bar reaches zero then the health also drops to zero, thus being the only mode in which the player dies out of hunger.
